There are some talented people living south of Granada. Including people offering their skills in the area of health treatment. A few years ago I went to the wood yard, lifted some logs and, boom!, next thing I knew, I could barely move.
I went for some acupuncture treatment. Something which previously I would have dismissed out of hand. It worked. After a few superb treatments I was better again. Since which time I have been happy to sing the praises of acupuncture and I've learned so much more about it since Deeva Eastwood moved to the Lecrin Valley, south of Granada. I had no idea acupuncture could be beneficial to so many different ailments.
I asked Deeva to explain her background and give you a brief outline of the treatment she offers.
She tells me:- "I’m trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a member of the British Acupuncture Council. I’ve worked in a number of clinics, including Women and Health in
"In 2010 my husband began looking for a place with a decent climate to start afresh and discovered the beautiful Lecrin Valley. We have settled well in the historic village of Mondujar, just off the motorway between Granada and Motril.
"It wasn’t until I discovered acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine that I knew I had found something that really captivated me! I find the theory behind it endlessly fascinating (ask my husband, he’ll tell you I can wax lyrical about it for hours – or is that bore him senseless?).
"It speaks to so much more than just my mind. It is almost poetic in the way it sees the human being, viewing illness as a pattern of disharmony.
"I‘ve often been asked if I specialise in any particular area and I usually answer no, as I’m happy to treat any condition, but if pushed, I’d say that I like treating, of all things, sweating disorders! Acupuncture works so well that it always astonishes me when I hear of people having Botox for it.
"I also like the way that no two treatments are exactly the same. Every single person gets an absolutely individual treatment, tailored to their precise needs. Acupuncture is so wonderfully versatile that it can be used for all sorts of conditions and because it’s holistic, it doesn’t treat just the symptoms. Often after treatment, people mention that they sleep better, have more energy or generally feel more upbeat."
